#DonationNotDuration - Celebrating Hope and Supporting the Home of Happiness in Zambia

As I prepared to celebrate my birthday on the 13th of May, I found myself reflecting on the true meaning of celebration and the value of heartfelt gifts. My life-changing journey to Zambia in October 2022 opened my eyes to the love and joy that can be discovered in the most unexpected places. It was during this trip that I first encountered the inspiring #DonationNotDuration initiative, which has influenced my decision to celebrate my special day, and those of many others, a bit differently.

The Origins of #DonationNotDuration

The #DonationNotDuration movement began on 26th March 2022, when David Adabale decided to forgo traditional birthday gifts (his birthday was on 15th February 2022) in favour of supporting a meaningful cause. His selfless decision inspired others to follow suit, turning their birthdays into opportunities to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. I am proud to join this growing movement, dedicating my own birthday and beyond to the Home of Happiness in Lusaka, Zambia.

Your life is an answer to someone's question and a solution to someone's problem. What problem is your life solving? What solution is your life addressing? ~ David Adabale

Discovering the Home of Happiness

In the heart of Lusaka, Zambia, the Home of Happiness serves as a sanctuary for children with unique needs. The incredible Ms. Bernadette, despite her own challenges, founded this remarkable orphanage, providing love, care, and support for children with various disabilities. Through her tireless efforts, she has created a haven where every child can experience happiness and belonging.

The Power of Generosity

Without any state support, the Home of Happiness relies solely on the kindness of volunteers and the generosity of donors like you. I was deeply moved by the resilience and unwavering joy of these children in the face of adversity, and I knew I couldn't stand idly by – I had to take action.

Celebrating Compassion and Kindness

Realising that the greatest gift I could receive is the opportunity to help these incredible children, I was inspired by David Adabale's #DonationNotDuration movement to dedicate not only my special day but also the days ahead to raising funds for the Home of Happiness. By embracing this initiative, I'm inviting you to join me on this journey of love, empathy, and support.

Creating a Lasting Impact

Let's remember the true meaning of gifts – not material possessions, but the power of love, kindness, and generosity. By supporting the Home of Happiness, we can pave the way for a brighter future for these children, not just for today, but for a lifetime.
